A Presentation on Egypt by Camille Bordas

adapted to the stage by Darah Barenholtz

I directed A Presentation on Egypt for my final project in my University’s semiannual director’s festival. Assigned the task of adapting a short story to stage in the style of Paul Sills’ Story Theater, I chose this 2019 piece published in The New Yorker. Having grown up with a single mother and a family plagued with suicidal ideation, I was very grateful to tackle this one act about a mother, haunted by the suicide of her husband, and its potential implications on their child’s mental health.
